Bullseye - Arcade Bandit

This is the last Song of the Week for 2013. Thusly, I have decided that instead of this being my favourite song for this week this is my favourite song of the entire year.

I did have to contemplate this one for a long time and while a few of the songs that have been granted the title of Song of the Week year have been among my all time favourites I've decided that my Song of the Year will go to one that hasn't been on here yet at all.

Arcade Bandit by Bullseye is without a doubt my number one song for this year. I love chiptune, and dubstep has been taking my fancy rather a lot recently, so the two things combined? Love it! I could literally listen to this song on repeat for a whole day and not tire of it. For me, this is my Song of the Year and it reminds me of the struggles that I've had this year and the strength that I've drawn from the music I've listened to to overcome it all.

I hope that next year brings me more new artists and songs that are just as excellent as this one.

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

I had to think long and hard about what my Song of the Week would be this time around. I haven't had much chance to listen to music this week so I had a struggle. I came up with a few possibilities, but in the end this one won out.

Why? Good question.

I wasn't particularly fond of this song when it first came out. But over time, as is sometimes the case, it grew on me. This week, while I've been up in the night with insomnia, I watched a film. This film is an adaptation of one of my favourite books - The Host.

Guys, as pathetic as this may sound, watching this film was seriously the highlight of my week. It's been a bad one, and I thought that as a song that featured in the film it has done enough to earn the title of Song of the Week.

Beastie Boys - Intergalactic

This song has not stopped coming on my shuffle this week.

Bioshock Infinite - God Only Knows

This song never fails to get stuck in my head. This week I've been listening to the Bioshock Infinite soundtrack A LOT. Not far into the game you come across a hovering stage with a barber shop quartet singing this song. Yep, I stood the character, Booker Dewitt, in front of them until they had finished they had finished and flown off again.

Also, this game is great and so very beautiful.

My Neighbour Totoro Ending Theme (ocarina edition) - Joe Hisaishi

 It wasn't actually this version of the song that was my song of the week, but I couldn't find that version because Blogger is dumb. This version is still nice though.


I love Studio Ghibli. They make amazing movies. My Neighbour Totoro was the first one that I watched fully and it will always have a special spot in my heart places.

I've been hear Daft Punk's Get Lucky basically everywhere I go. I'm not too fond of his version I have to say. However, I do love this cover.
I've been following this artist for a while now, and everything that she comes out with I have loved. She is amazing, and she deserves way more attention than what she gets.

The Lumineers - Ho Hey

I absolutely adore this song. I think it might be one of my top favourite songs of all time.

The Legend of Zelda - Lost Woods Theme

I love this game series, especially Ocarina of Time. And this song. This. Song. It gets stuck in my head so bad. I haven't even played a Zelda game recently, yet still this song popped in there and has refused to leave me. I have seriously been whistling it all week long. And I care not!

Bon Ivor - Blood Bank

I've been all about opening old wounds this week. Doing that helps you heal.
This song makes me think and feel things I wish I could forget, so it's been played a lot this week. Other than that it's one of my favourite songs right now. I've been listening to a lot of chilled out, mellow and acoustic songs recently and this is one of the main ones.

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

I was really struggling to pick out a song for this week. Like, seriously struggling. I sat myself down this morning and had a good ponder. At first, I couldn't come with anything, because I've hardly listened to music this week. But then it dawned on me... The few times I did put on music this week this one song popped up each time, and not once did I skip past it.
I love this song a lot. It describes the feelings that I have the majority of the time, but right now in particular.
I put it on again a few minutes earlier, and all I felt like doing was slow dancing to it with someone special. The only problem is, I don't have a someone special right now. Nor am I ready for one. That sucks.

Pocahontas - Colours of the Wind

Spin Doctors - Two Princes

I've been feeling pretty nostalgic this week. I've been listening to old songs that played during my 90's childhood - 90's grunge, pop, and pop rock...
This song featured a LOT while I was growing up and I have some nice memories attached to it. I was debating putting up a different song, but this one got played more often so this is the one that won over in the end.
Who knows, maybe the other will win next week. It happened last time, right?

The Weepies - I Was Made For Sunny Days

This song has been on my iPod pretty much constantly. I've had a lot to be sad about this week, but I've been keeping a smile on my face with a little help from this song.

The sun is starting to shine, which is partially why I've been listening to this song I think. It's cheerful, sunny, and happy. And it makes me think of a special someone that I hold dear to me right now.

Rise Against - Saviour

So I haven't been listening to any one song in particular this week. Mostly it's been varied acoustic songs from new artists I've been checking out.
Plus a friend of mine from high school just released her first album, and from what I've had chance to hear of it so far - it is beautiful. But then, I didn't expect anything less from her.

This song, and this band are among my favourites. And they were the close second for last week, so they can have this week instead.

It was very nearly another song from a different band, but this one pipped them to the post. Maybe they'll get t next week, who knows?

They've always been one of my favourite bands, I think they are under appreciated.
I've been listening to this song in particular.
It comes from their best album (in my opinion) and it is one of my top songs from that album.

No One Does It Better - You Me At Six

I stumbled across this song early in the week, and I haven't really been able to stop listening to it since. I've had a bad time sleeping this week and I've been waking up 'with a grudge the size of a short story'
I've been a fan of this band since high school, but I never really kept up with when they released new stuff. So I was pleasantly surprised when I found this. 

Explosions In The Sky - Your Hand In Mine

I've been listening to this band and nothing else really this week. They're are amazing, all of their songs are purely instrumental - they don't need lyrics. This is one of my favourite songs by them, it calms me down no end. They are about the only thing that has made me smile this week.

Super Mario Bros. Main Theme and Overworld Theme

In all honesty, I haven't got just one song this week. There has been an awful lot of switching about with the music I've been listening to. However, this one is currently my ringtone and every time my phone rings I end up whistling it for a good long while afterwards. That's as good a reason as any for it to be my Song of the Week, right?

Ben Howard - Keep Your Head Up

I came across this artist, and this song thanks to a new friend of mine. I adore this song right now. It's so positive and uplifting. It is exactly what I need right now.

Asleep - Emily Browning

This song has basically been on repeat for most of my week. Again, it's describing how I've been feeling lately, but aside from that I love this song.

It was made for one of my favourite movies and is sung by the leading lady Emily Browning - who, can I just add, is my biggest lady crush.

This song is a remake of the original by The Smiths, I do believe. I haven't heard that version, I'll admit it. But I do love this version.

Circle of Life (Nants Ingonyama) - The Lion King Broadway Cast

I went to see this show last Saturday evening. It is truly amazing and probably the best thing I've seen on stage so far. If anybody out there is a fan of The Lion King they need to see this you won't regret a second. Even if you haven't ever seen the film it is worth the trip to watch it, I can't recommend it highly enough!

Safe And Sound - Taylor Swift

Song of the Week, number three!
I'll admit, I'm not much of a Taylor Swift fan. But this song I love!
Made for the Hunger Games soundtrack - a trilogy I hold very dear to my heart. It resonates perfectly with the feel of the books and the one movie that is out already, but it also seems to describe how I've been feeling lately. So I've been listening to it. A lot.

Flaming Red Hair - Howard Shore

First song of the week is Flaming Red Hair by Howard Shore. Made for the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the song where all the Hobbits are prancing about, celebrating Bilbo Baggins' birthday and just being all round merry.

I love this song, and I haven't been able to stop listening to it this week. C'mon who wouldn't like this song? It's just so... Happy.
